Chem-Chem Campsite, Marangu Mtoni
Chem-Chem Campsite is in northern Tanzania located half-way between Marangu Mtoni and Kimori House in Mshiri village. It's situated on the lush green slopes of Kilimanjaro by a stream fed by a natural spring (chem-chem), a ten-minute walk from Marangu Mtoni.
Chem-Chem is a purpose-built campsite with toilets, warm showers, covered open-air dining room and a cook to prepare continental breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. There are separate loos and shower facilities for men and for women. The site can accommodate up to 20 tents.
The campsite has 220V mains electricity providing lighting and enabling you to recharge your cell phone, camera and other batteries, etc. An internet café is available Monday to Friday (09:00-16:30 hours), and on Saturday (09:00-14:00 hours). The internet café is 10 minutes walk away in the centre of Mshiri.
The campsite is open all year round and although advance booking is not always essential, we advise that you do contact us in advance to make sure that we have space for you on the dates that you require.
The cost of camping at Chem-Chem is USD $10 per person per night.
Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner are available at reasonable rates.
All profits from the Chem-Chem Campsite are used to support the work of Village Education Project Kilimanjaro.
